As Rodriguez and the club nears a new contract, multiple media outlets reported on Sunday that Mariano Rivera is expected to accept the New York Yankees’ 3-year, $45 million deal. This offer would make Mariano Rivera the highest paid closer in the history of the League. The New York Mets’ Billy Wagner had been at the top with an average annual salary of $10.75 million
